Learning and growing together with peers

Group Therapies

Small, facilitator-led group sessions where children practise communication, social and play skills alongside peers in a supportive, real-world setting.

Group Therapies

In plain language

Group therapies bring a small number of children together with a trained facilitator to build social communication, cooperation and confidence through shared play and structured activities. Skills first developed one-to-one — like taking turns, listening, sharing and managing emotions — are practised with peers, helping them carry over into school, friendships and everyday life.

Areas we work on

  • Social communication and conversation
  • Turn-taking, sharing and cooperation
  • Play skills and peer interaction
  • Emotional regulation and confidence
  • Following group routines and instructions

What a session may involve

Small groups meet with a facilitator for structured play, games and activities chosen around shared goals. The facilitator gently guides interaction, models social skills and gives every child chances to take part and succeed.

  • Cooperative games and turn-taking play
  • Group art, music and story activities
  • Role-play and social-skills practice
  • Emotion-recognition and regulation games

Working with your family

We keep you updated on your child’s goals and share ways to encourage social skills at home, and we group children thoughtfully by age and needs.

How we review progress

Progress is tracked against each child’s individual social and communication goals and reviewed with you regularly, in plain language.

Common questions

Groups are deliberately small so every child gets attention and chances to participate. Children are matched by age and shared goals.
